Custom Wallpaper

Exciting things are happening at Loboloup! We have a whole new batch of wallpaper patterns we're offering as custom designs. Also in the works are fabric by the yard and pillows. Strike offs for the fabric should arrive soon and I'm hoping to have something to show in the very near future.

Buttons and Beads

I'm still trying to spread some cheer with polka dots.

Connect the Dots

Someday soon, the cold and damp will be just a bad memory, but until then, here's a polka dot pattern to lighten the mood.

Monotone

Once upon a time, there were limits to how many colors you could try and include in a textile design. You needed to become very proficient in the art of a half-tone to squeeze out an extra color. Then gradually, more and more screens were allowed in a single design. After years of holding back, I went completely color crazy. Everyday was a color party. Roy G Biv was my best friend. Now that I'm in the wallpaper business, and everything is hand-screened, I'm back to weighing every color decision. Getting back to basics is proving to be surprisingly therapeutic.

All Boxed Up

I thought this might make a good coordinate for my last post.

This is what you get when you combine a floral and a geometric.

Loboloup Photos

I'm delighted Liya Zlotnik, of Dumplings Photography, chose Loboloup's Friendly Forest and Circus wallpapers for her children's rooms. Thanks Liya, for sharing your lovely photos. The end results look great!

Whirls & Swirls

I don't usually consider a geometric very festive, but this one comes close to fitting the bill. Happy New Year!

More Rug Ideas

I'd love a new rug, but the one's I've taken a shine to are way beyond what my budget will allow. So for now, I'll have to be content designing possible candidates. Last week, I tried out a couple of florals. Here, I was going for more modern take to the traditional medallion rug.

Florals

I'm hoping these two might have a future as rugs.

Color Remix

In the old days, I never restrained myself when it came to color. 4 blues, 3 greens, a darker and lighter red, orange, pink, several yellow hues, black, gray or brown -- the more the merrier. Because we silkscreen the Loboloup wallpapers, and each color gets it's own screen, I more mindful about the number of colors I introduce into a pattern. The original circus train design had too many colors to count, but I somehow managed to whittle it down to 2. I must admit, I'm liking this pared-down look.

Cutting Corners

A few hours with a pair of scissors, paper and glue can be quite satisfying.

Curves & Lines

I took a trip to the land of geometrics and I think I plan on staying awhile.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles

This one fell through the cracks and never got posted. I was probably waiting to register the copyright, and then forgot about it.

Another Monotone

I had rugs or home textiles in mind when I was working on this pattern.

True Blue

This is a sample illustration I did for a story idea which also included a little color theory. In the end, I think I was more intrigued by how the illustrations might look and less interested in developing the story. Right now, it's resting in my revisit file for when I have more time.

Bugs

There are lots of things I'll miss, now that summer's over, but bugs aren't one of them.

Suburbia

After 2 posts about the city, I thought the burbs of my youth deserved equal time.

Cityscape rug

Below is a rug design I did based on the Loboloup Cityscape wallpaper.
